BBFC Women’s Foilists Earn Three Medals and a New A Rating at the October NAC

Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club women’s foilists produced three podium finishes and a new A26 rating at the 2026 October North American Cup in Orlando.

Eight BBFC athletes competed across multiple national events between October 9 and 12. The weekend began with Sara Amr Hossny placing third in a 118-fencer Cadet Elite field. One day later, Annika Krahe earned silver in Division I Challenger Women’s Foil, while Genevieve Murphy finished seventh and earned her new A26 rating.

These results reflect both individual achievement and the depth of BBFC’s competitive women’s foil program.

Sara Amr Hossny leads BBFC in Cadet Elite Women’s Foil

Sara Amr Hossny earned third place against 118 competitors on Friday, October 9. Her podium finish led a six-fencer BBFC group in one of the weekend’s largest women’s foil events.

Cadet Elite Women’s Foil

  • Sara Amr Hossny: 3rd place

National cadet events test every part of a young athlete’s preparation. Fencers must manage the pressure of pools, direct-elimination bouts, changing opponents, and a long competition day. Sara’s third-place result shows what focused training and consistent tournament experience can produce.

Every BBFC athlete in the field also gained another opportunity to test her fencing against nationally competitive opponents and identify what needs attention before the next event.

Annika Krahe earns silver in Division I Challenger Women’s Foil

BBFC returned to the podium on Saturday, October 10, when Annika Krahe placed second in the 70-fencer Division I Challenger field.

Four BBFC athletes competed:

  • Annika Krahe: 2nd place

  • Genevieve Murphy: 7th place and earned an A26 rating

Annika and Genevieve both advanced to the top eight, where they met in an all-BBFC quarterfinal. Annika moved forward and continued to the championship bout, finishing the day with the silver medal.

Genevieve’s seventh-place finish also earned her a new A26 rating. An A rating is the highest classification awarded within USA Fencing’s rating system, making this an important competitive milestone.

Ana Kapran narrowly missed the top eight with an 11th-place finish, giving BBFC three athletes among the top 16 of the event.
