“My daughter had a lot of anxiety during/post the pandemic, and this club has been the best thing for her. She has made a wonderful group of friends here, and she loves her coach. “Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club is an amazing place. My 12 year old son joined the club almost two years ago. At that time he had never committed to an organized sport; he struggled mightily with inattention and frustration tolerance. BBFC has helped him become more responsible, focused, and self aware. The coaches are fantastic, they are patient and consistent, and they create a warm and respectful community. My son is more confident and can both win and lose with grace. He happily attends class 3x a week. I can't say enough good things about BBFC and recommend it highly.”

A welcoming fencing community in Brooklyn

“Our daughter has been attending Brooklyn Bridge Fencing for the past 1.5 years. BBFC creates a nurturing atmosphere where kids are motivated to fence and to learn. There is a strong sense of community amongst the kids as well as the parents.

We have been very pleased with the quality of the coaching and the manner in which we have been guided through the world of competitive fencing. We never have to question the quality and the method of teaching. If in doubt of qualifications of Dan Kellner and the club's track record, check out the bios of the coaches as well as the club's instagram account.

Do yourself a favor and do your research before choosing the club. Do your homework and don't go by hearsay. We are happy we did our thorough diligence because we love it here and this will be our second home for awhile...”
— Jennie Kim
“BBFC has become a second home for our daughter. The coaches teach with an exceptional level of professionalism and expertise and genuinely care for our kids on and off the strip. With some of the best ranked fencers in the world on staff, it is no wonder the children learn all aspects of the sport both physical and mental.”
— Samantha Dell'Olio
“My son joined BBFC about a year and a half ago, it's been a great experience. All the coaches genuinely care about his growth and development; very nurturing environment. Very fortunate to have found BBFC and be a part of it.”

Fencing summer camp reviews

“Our son spent a week at the Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Camp and it was a rewarding experience from start to finish. The space is clean and professional, the equipment is excellent, and the coaching is both skilled and kind. What stood out most was the transformation in our usually shy child—by midweek, he was on the attack on the piste, and excited to tell us about his matches and the new things he'd learned. The staff balances safety, technique, and fun so well that he came home proud of himself every day and even made some new friends. We’re hoping to return during the school year. Wholeheartedly recommend this program. Fencing is truly a beautiful sport.”
— Sulay Hernandez
“My son enjoyed summer camp here so much, and loved learning in a safe and fun environment. We enjoyed seeing him get a lot of exercise and have positive energy at pick up!”
— Elise Chang

— Christina Hwang
“Both of my kids took fencing last year and loved it. Amazing instructors with an amazing facility!”
— Sebastian Kim
“I did an introductory class with my 7yo daughter - it was amazing. The instructors, the team, the space… My daughter did foil with Coach José and I did saber with coach Fraser: the instructors were so nice! Calm, taking their time to explain, smiling and trying to make us live a great experience as an introduction. We even put the mask on ! (So fun!)

It definitely gave us a glimpse at what training could look like: footwork, practice, strategic decisions… we will be back for more!”
— Flore Fouret

Experienced fencing leadership and coaching

“I've known Dan for over 30 years and not only was he a great competitor since high school, he ended up being an Olympian. He has given his heart and soul to fencing and has opened this great club. Anytime I'm in town, I bring my kids to train here. He has a great youth program, is a great guy, and most importantly a great coach!”
— Eric Chang
“This is my kids’ third year at BBFC and it has been an absolutely exceptional experience. The coaches are truly world-class—they are strict yet deeply attentive to the holistic development and inner growth of the kids. It has programs catering to everyone from beginners to Olympic-level athletes. The way BBFC fosters the fencers’ growth is truly hard to come by elsewhere. Not only have my kids developed advanced fencing skills, but they’ve also built strong friendships with their peers. It’s a place where passion, discipline, and camaraderie thrive. Highly truly recommended! 💕💕”
— Linz Li
“Fantastic environment for athletic and intellectual development of fencers of all skill levels. The balance between independent activity — kids quickly learn to organize and judge all the bouts, with the top-flight coaches nearby to assist — and personal instruction (individual lessons are part of every session) is superbly managed by Dan and his team. Friendly, busy, and just a lot of fun--the best part of my daughter's week.”
